Bone Conductive Headset

In the course “Technology and Form” a design concept for the next generation radio equipment for military purpose was created. The assignment was individual and had a timespan of one week.

The assignment had to include a analysed trend and at least one technology which had to be combined. This project focuses on 3D audio technology and GPS networking.

The aesthetics has inspiration from military equipment and aviation technologies like the F22 Raptors rale and an M1 Abrams battle tank. Primary focus was on the audio driver itself.

TEX Audio System

TEX is the next generation radio equipment for military personnel. It delivers the full experience of 3D audio technology with directional feedback inputs. This ensures a total awareness for all allied troops in the field, and helps reducing the potential danger of friendly fire. The ability to act quickly is highly improved when know the direction of the audio is known.

TEX makes use of bone conductive audio, in a small package that saves space and precocious weight. The system functions based on a mesh network applied in cooperation with MeshDynamics. Improved stability, dynamic range and military grade frequency encryption creates a solid platform for future warfare communication.

Total Situational Awareness

Situational awareness is a term used to describe the ability to know where all allied soldiers, enemy soldiers and tactical positioning is in relation to the squad leader. In the Danish Royal Army, a typical squad consists of 8 soldiers. A squad leader (Sergeant), a second-in-command (Corporal) and 6 members (Private First Class).

The biggest challenge for the squad leader is to position himself and his squad accordingly to the surrounding environment. 3D audio technology improves his ability to act quickly on the world input and can issue orders more efficiently.
